The award ceremony of the third “CMAC Cup” Essay Contest and the seminar on “Foreign Legal Personnel Training and Career Planning” were successfully held at the East China University of Political Science and Law (ECUPL) in Shanghai on October 25th. 

The event was organized by CMAC and co-hosted by CMAC Shanghai Headquarters and the International Law School of ECUPL, with the support of Shanghai Maritime Court, Shanghai Arbitration Association, and China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) Shanghai Sub-Commission.

Han Qiang, Deputy Party Secretary of ECUPL, Hu Yongqing, Vice President of Shanghai Maritime Court, and Yu Weifeng, President of Shanghai Arbitration Association, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Li Hu, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of CMAC, represented the organizer and addressed the attendees. 

Li Hu pointed out that under the continuous influence and unremitting promotion of the “CMAC Cup” the enthusiasm of young scholars and practitioners for the development of the arbitration industry has been further stimulated, and arbitration culture has been further popularized. Young people, as an indispensable force in the construction of foreign-related rule of law, are interpreting their unique social value with practical actions and professional attitudes.

After the award ceremony, the seminar on “Foreign Legal Personnel Training and Career Planning” commenced. During the exchange session, the participants responded enthusiastically, raising questions about the current concerns of law students regarding the capabilities required for foreign-related legal personnel, to which the attending experts provided positive answers.

In the closing remarks, Xu Fei, Deputy Secretary-General of CMAC Shanghai Headquarters, and Wang Guohua, Professor at the International Law School of ECUPL, delivered their closing remarks respectively.
